Kristen’s story

What has the Granada House done for me? The house has done a lot. It helped me to accept that people can love me and they are not always going to hurt me. That it is okay to cry and feel hurt by people or things because they hurt me or die or just give up on me. The Granada House always showed me to take care of ‘Kristen’ and put myself first and everything else second. The house showed me how to be sober and how to work my recovery and the Twelve Steps on a daily basis to the best I can. They helped me change old behaviors, and they still are. They taught me that I can laugh and smile.

They helped me by believing in me when I did not believe in myself. They are always there to listen or help me through anything. But I still have a lot more learning and listening to do, like staying away from that drink or drugs.

Living life for today and not for yesterday or tomorrow or a year from now is my goal.

The Best Thing the house has taught me is that living sober is really joyous and can be fun. I have a wonderful life to live without drugs or drinking it all away.

Thank you all for loving me. And pushing me to do things I didn't want to do. And not letting me walk out the door.
