Resident Testimonials

A few comments from our wonderful, past residents.

“As a graduate of the Granada House in June of 2024 I have nothing but positive experiences living in the house and interacting with staff and housemates. As I started my stay in December of 2023 I was greeted with warmth and positive energy from the staff in many ways, the house also had a cozy vibe to it while being architecturally beautiful inside and out which made it even better for myself. Coming into a house that was clean and well put together told me visually that the director and staff took immense pride in the house as a whole which was a comforting feeling that I needed at that time in my life. The Granada House felt like “home” away from home and less like a program which was uncommon in my journey. From conversing with housemates over dinner, to feeling safe with the staff while talking about personal struggles was empowering for myself in many ways which gave me hope to stay strong and to keep myself on the straight and narrow. The Granada House was a home where I could work on myself in regards to socializing, asking for help, learning to work out difficulties in the appropriate manner when they arose, spending quality time with self as well as others who are all learning to live life one day at a time without any mood or mind altering substances. The Granada House exemplifies recovery on many levels but it is moreso the individuals inside the house that has guided me, the caring staff that have saved themselves and lead a life of dignity. Without having people to look up to in life can be detrimental and I am grateful for all the positive people I have met at the Granada House.”

Former Resident, Graduated in 2024

“I was a resident at the Granada House from August 2023 to February 2024. I had been in a treatment center for 45 days, and initially planned to go home after I was released. My counselor talked me into going to a halfway house instead, and the timing was lucky enough to get a placement to Granada. After several stays in hospitals and attempts at recovery in general, the Granada House was my first experience in a halfway house program. To put it plainly, I have been sober ever since.
The program at the Granada House gave me the tools I needed to stay sober and live in recovery. My “get well job” got me on my feet financially, and by attending recovery meetings in the evenings, I built a community around me to help me continue in sobriety after graduating the Granada program. I personally chose to stay in the Boston area, and so continue to go to many of the same meetings I started attending while a resident. But regardless of where I go now, I know I will find community thanks to the tools and skills the Granada House program gave me. I’m very grateful for the staff there and for my peers in recovery, who continue to help me stay sober today.”
